ConstructionTech: Innovation and Digital Transformation at bauma 2019
Built World Innovation presents, conjointly with bauma as well as leading construction equipment manufacturers, the Startup Contest 2019 at bauma.
bauma and its exhibitors offer an excellent international platform for the selection and promotion of young technology companies. As part of the Built World Innovation Contest, over 600 startups from more than 40 countries have applied. A jury of international construction and real estate companies has selected the most promising startups for bauma. With this initiative, the trade fair connects young technology companies with established companies in the construction industry, thus enabling the transformation of the industry through digitization and innovation.
“After the successful format at EXPO REAL, we are pleased to be present at bauma this year and to be able to bring the latest technological trends through innovative startups to the construction machinery industry. With more than 600,000 square meters of space and around 600,000 visitors, bauma is the largest trade fair in the world and we are proud to call them our partners. We are looking forward to conjointly support the construction industry in making big steps towards disrupting the industry. “, says Wolfgang Moderegger Founder and initiator of the industrial initiatives Built World Innovation and Real Estate Innovation Network.
“The construction industry is in digital dawn – and bauma, together with Built World Innovation, is Europe’s hotspot for startups and technology companies offering relevant solutions for this industry,” explains Mareile Kaestner, project manager at bauma.
The initiative around Built World Innovation has managed to inspire companies, which compete in their core businesses, to join forces for innovation and future orientation. Built World Innovation sees itself as an intermediary and translator between the established and successful industry and young, agile technology companies. The network provides an ecosystem for pilot projects and customer access, supports young technology companies with industry-specific knowledge and also provides necessary strategic funding for product development and initial growth for expansion. Built World Innovation moderates the process and enables the use of synergies between established companies and startups.
At the bauma, on April 12, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, there will be a panel of leading companies on “Innovation in the construction industry – Between disruption or incremental innovation – what will the future bring?” as well as the finale of the Innovation Contest, where startups will compete pitching their business models and facing the expert questions of a top-class jury live on stage.

MECHASYS simplifies the process of surveying the construction site. With a simple AI laser projection system, measurements and drawings are projected directly onto surfaces at the construction site. The system is especially suitable for body shell and interior work.
INTSITE transfers aviation technologies to the construction industry. These advanced technologies such as deep learning and machine learning make cranes more productive and safer. The vision of the company is a world of autonomous construction cranes.
TOOLSENSE offers a complete IoT solution to manufacturers of mobile, cost-critical design and cleaning machines. The data can be used to optimize operations and maintenance and enable new business models such as pay-per-use.
VERTICAL PRINTING TECHNOLOGY is the first automated concrete pouring technology capable of building multi-storey buildings on site. The advanced 3D printing technology enables sustainable and economic housing. Time and costs of the bodyshell are reduced by up to 50%.
